Dr Elena Stoyanova is the author of Teaching and Assessing Working Mathematically - Books 1 & 2.

Having previously written the popular Teaching and Assessing Student's Numeracy booklets (Number, Space, Measurement, and Chance & Data), this is Elena's next book to help classroom teachers in their everyday classroom work.

Elena holds a PhD degree in developing students’ mathematical abilities and she has taught gifted and talented students at all levels.

She says: "I think that mathematics is the easiest school subject because it is just a way of thinking. The nature of the curriculum and the way we communicate with students lies at the heart of developing students’ mathematical abilities."

Elena's interests include problem posing, problem solving, assessment, gifted education and misconceptions.

She is the Numeracy Manager for the national assessment in mathematics.
